When I grow up…..

I want to look like this!  Seriously…..I first met this stunning mom of three (can you believe she has 2 TEENAGERS…?) last year when I shot her and her equally gorgeous kids on the beach.  Trust me when I say, she is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  We had a great time doing this solo shoot  JUST  FOR HER.  It’s a nice change to be the star of the show once in a while.   I love how my job takes me from meeting new clients…to my clients becoming my friends.  S- I had a great time capturing your true beauty.  Thank you :)

tara k - what a beauty! LOVE that she did that for herself. gorgeous! :)August 26, 2010 - 9:43 am

The details….

…of life.  That is what I love capturing the most.

While on vacation, I sat and watched my 3 year old play with his cars and planes.  I could sit and watch him for hours, as his little boy hands push cars from one end of the lounger (or couch…or chair…but never the floor!) to the other. The seriousness of it all…the care and concentration he takes.  He has quite an imagination, and I love how he can sit and play with his cars for hours many many minutes!

It’s all about those small details.  The one’s we’ll forget about once they move on to other things.  These are the moments I live for.  And, yes, I realize I  can be obsessive (to others) with my camera always within my grip….but I know that down the road, these images will be appreciated and cherished forever.

I might print this big and put in his room.  It just captures him so perfectly as he is today…right now.

I’m back…

It’s been quiet over here.  Just got back from 10 wonderful days at Lake Tahoe.  It’s been great to “unplug” for a while.  I spent 10 days relaxing with my boys and capturing my own memories of my babies who are growing up way too fast before my eyes.  My 3 year old was in his element playing on the beach, swimming in the lake…and having his own TV in his room!  He’s such a big boy now, wanting to do everything himself…exercising his independence along with his frustrations.  This has been the most interesting age yet!!  Not quite my toddler anymore, but not quite the big boy he wants to be either.  I’m just thankful that he still wants to curl up in my lap and play with my “feathers” as he likes to refer to my hair!  My ALREADY 8 month old baby is now babbling up a storm and is just smitten with his older brother.  He wants nothing to do with the “baby” toys, he’s much more interested in all the matchbox cars that his brother plays with.  In a few rare moments, I can actually catch them “playing” together!   Watching them…makes my heart happy :)

I’ll be getting back to emails and calls this week.  Thank you for your patience.  I hope you are all having a great summer!!

My boys of summer….

Automobuild….A fun new store in Downtown Los Gatos!

I was so thrilled to be a part of my friend’s grand opening a few weeks ago of Automobuild, in downtown Los Gatos.  This is a specialty toy store themed around cars and building.  They carry all kinds of classic cars, build cars, apparel, stationary, and everything else “car” you can imagine.  They have a great racing table that the kids can play on and “test drive” their cars!  It’s such a cool store and I was so happy to be their on their Grand Opening to capture all the fun!

If you haven’t already, make sure to check out this unique and fun store!!

A day at the market…. | Campbell family photographer

One of the best things about living in California is the Sunday Farmer’s Market, and Campbell has a great one!  To me, the best thing about a family photo session is capturing the moments that are precious to your family.  For this family, that means a Sunday stroll at the Farmers Market to buy their fresh produce. I was so happy just to follow them around and capture their morning.  Dad is a great chef, and no doubt this little princess will follow in his footsteps.

Here’s a little sneak peak…

Katrina + Eric = Engaged….

I had the absolute pleasure capturing these two as they get ready to say their “I do’s” in July.   I knew I wanted to get them out in the “country” for their engagement session.  We found a great abandoned (I think!) 18-wheeler truck lot that we played around in.  This was a new thing for me…but I really liked it, and hope to more of these sessions in the future.

Here’s a little sneak peak of our evening….

A tribute to Coach…the MVP (most valued pet!) | Los Gatos Family Photographer

I’m not one to write wordy blog posts, as I’m more of a “let my pictures speak for themselves” kind of person.  However, I was touched in a way that broke my heart when I met this family of 5.  We were scheduled to do this shoot later in the summer, until mom informed me that they had received some heartbreaking news about their dog, Coach.   Without getting into any detail, we rescheduled the shoot for right away.  After learning about Coach’s diagnosis and hearing stories about Coach’s life told to me by two very passionate and loving 4 and 6 year olds, it was impossible for me not to feel connected to this family.  Coach was the first baby in this family, and so has been there for these two kids as long as they have known life.  My job all of a sudden became that more important.  I felt even more compelled to capture the genuine feeling of this family as it is in this moment.   “Our lives are made,  in these small hours,  these little wonders,  these twists & turns of fate,  time falls away,  but these small hours, these small hours still remain…”  (Rob Thomas)

So, here is a little sneak peak of 2 ADORABLE kids, 2 wonderful and stong parents, and one MVP (most valued pet!)

Tony - Beautiful pictures. Coach is photogenic. He doesn't seem camera shy. Great black-and-whites! It's nice to have tangible memories of loved ones. I just lost my 13-year-old pup. Unfortunately, I could not be there for him in the end. There are pictures of him. However, I should have gotten more with me in them. I always thought of him as my furry little brother. Spoil Coach with love while there still is time. And, this would be the time to allow him a few table scraps, as tasty I'm sure kibble is for dogs.June 14, 2010 - 10:25 am

Sandra Mooney - Dear Nik and Jeff: We are so sorry to hear about Coach. Only those who have owned and loved a pet for a long time and consider them part of the family can understand your pain. Our thoughts with love, Rich and SandyJuly 6, 2010 - 11:33 am

Rain, rain…

go away…but not for good ; )  I do love me some rainy days.  I really do.  All this rain means beautiful SPRING colors.  Have you noticed all the green and yellows out there?  Not to mention the pinks of the cherry blossoms.  This is the PERFECT time of the year for custom family sessions.  This beautiful backdrop won’t last forever…soon we’ll be back to the “golden” hills.  Call today for our special Spring rates…they won’t last much longer either!!
